COOPERATION - LEARNING HOW TO BE A GOOD FRIEND

Making new friends is what makes preschool especially fun.
Working and playing "WITH" one another is what friends do best.
Learning this important skill at a young age will certainly pay off in the future.
Good friends are Happy friends!

AUSTRALIA - LAND OF MARSUPIALS AND MUSIC

We spent the end of this week learning about the country down under. We know marsupials have a pouch to carry their babies in, that koalas are NOT bears, and that baby kangaroos are called Joeys. We even got to eat "fairy bread" - something Australian children enjoy. We loved it too! Here we are playing the didgeridoos - an Australian musical instrument- we made. I apologize if your child played for you in the car - I asked them not to as I know it can be most distracting- but as a group, they make beautiful music.
WHAT A GREAT LITTLE CLASS!

DINOSAUR DAYS

During the past week and a half, we have been learning about dinosaurs. We know that dinosaurs came in all sizes, lived on the land, in the air, and in the sea, and ate all kinds of things. We also know that the dinosaurs are all extinct. We've looked at, touched, studied, and made fossils. We know what a paleontologist does and have had a dinosaur dig of our own. We've put the pieces we found on our dig together to create our own dinosaur puzzle (skeleton). This was a fun unit for the children and it was equally fun for us to share in their excitement as we learned about dinosaurs.
Here, we are making some mud like the kind the dinosaurs trudged through. We are also learning to wait our turn.

What will we find as we dig?

WE LOVE DINOSUARS!

A LESSON IN PATIENCE

If, by chance, your child has mentioned there are caterpillars in our classroom, here they are. They are Black Swallow Tail caterpillars that I found in my garden eating the flat leaf parsley. In the classroom, the children have been able to watch them eat and crawl around.
The caterpillars have finally entered their chrysalis state and will stay there until they change into butterflies and come out. Everyday, the children check on them, hoping to see the end result. Thus we have discussed what it means to have patience quite a lot this week. There is nothing any of us can do to make the butterflies come out sooner than when they are ready to. All we can do is be patient.

MAKING NEW FRIENDS!

As you can see, we already love spending some of our day out on the playground. We love to run and climb, and we get to be really, really loud if we want to. What we love the most about the playground is that it's a great place to make new friends!

We all made one special new friend inside the classroom though. It's Miss Jenna, our music teacher! (We will try to get a better picture the next time Miss Jenna visits our room.)
