DOGS AT SCHOOL

We have had a few canine visitors in the past few weeks. The children have gotten very good at having dogs in the classroom. Here is Mrs. Schwalbe's dog, Duke.

Here we have Coral, one of my pack. She is a timid, but very sweet, Chihuahua. As you can see, the children have learned to be very quiet and gentle when they need to be.
And here's T-Bone! The super-cute new puppy of one of our students. She got to come spend some time in our classroom during our Valentine's Day Party. Nothing can make you smile like a puppy!

SCIENCE LAB #1 - MEASUREMENT

We finally were able to have our very first science lab which had been delayed due to illness and winter weather. The children really seemed to enjoy it and did a great job listening and following directions. This first lab was very basic, but will allow us to use the terms we learned in our future labs. We discussed the word science itself and what it means. We also talked about the different ways to measure things, how to compare them and why this is important. Then the children took their rulers (which they know are tools, not toys) and practiced taking some measurements of their own!

A SUMMER DAY IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER!

As we prepare for another day off of school because of winter weather, I would like to share some pictures of my wonderful children out on the playground last week. As you can surely see, it was a warm, sunny day and almost 80 degrees! I hope the higher temperatures return soon.

GROUNDHOG DAY

February is finally here, and our first focus was the groundhog. It gave us the chance to talk about animals that live under the ground, the changing of seasons, and shadows. Who knew that a furry little creature could inspire so much discovery?

Sorry for the delay in posting these pictures from our annual pajama day. It was a fun day for all.
