BUBBLE WRAP AND LETTERS

We do something everyday to help make our finger muscles strong.

Here we are trying to pop the bubbles in some bubble wrap by only using our fingers to squeeze the air out. This activity is really fun for the children and is a great exercise for those hand and finger muscles!

WE NEED STRONG FINGERS SO WE CAN LEARN HOW TO
WRITE.
We also practice learning our letters by having fun at the magnet board!

Becoming More Independent

We have been working on independent skills. One way to do this is by learning how to get dressed alone. Even when they say they can't do it and think it's too hard, most three year olds are completely capable of putting clothing on by themselves, as these pictures will show.

*NO ADULT HELP WAS GIVEN IN THE DRESSING OF THESE CHILDREN!

We went to check out the progress of the new playground. We were sad that
we couldn't play on the huge mounds of dirt. Watching the workers building
the retaining wall prompted a million questions. All of us are VERY excited and
can hardly wait for the work to end and the playing to begin.

Our Days Stay Busy!

Working with small, in fact tiny, things make the small muscles in the hands and fingers stronger and more agile. This is an important pre-writing skill. We do many activities that work our hands and fingers. A child can't be expected to write until their hands are strong enough to grasp a pencil and their fingers agile enough to guide it. You can enhance these activities at home by having your child punch holes with a hole puncher or perhaps work with large nuts and bolts by assembling and disassembling them.

Small group creative play, where the children play TOGETHER as opposed to NEAR each other, is one characteristic that differentiates a 2 year old from a 3 year old. As the children get to know one another better, we are seeing the play groups change daily. The skill of making friends is definitely one of the most important things we focus on in our class.

Of course we continue working on our wonderful Halloween creations!

Spider Webs and Towers

We created some spider webs by rolling marbles through
white paint on black paper. Tomorrow, we will add
some spiders!

Teamwork was the name of the game today!
The boys cooperated and built quite the tower.
They were very proud of the finished product.
I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

A TYPICAL OCTOBER DAY

We have begun working on our multi-step Halloween
witch project! First we must paint with glue....
then we spread the black glitter.....
which (not witch) ends up everywhere and on everyone!

But we still had time to care for our baby elephants.
Another GOOD day!

A VISIT FROM THE FIRE TRUCK!

Today the Savannah Fire Fighters brought some fire trucks to school so
we could learn how to be safe in case of a fire.
They talked to us about what to do if we were ever in a fire.

We all listened very carefully and used our best manners.

We even asked some questions of our own.

Here we are with our new friend - THE FIRE TRUCK!

A week of discoveries

We learned all about Christopher Columbus.
Here we are working on making our own
binoculars.
We painted them black - one of this month's colors.
We also discovered some new things we could
make in the sticky blocks!

Triangle Fun

Today we started learning about Tommy Triangle.

We used a triangle and started working on a
Halloween project.
Bet you can't wait to see the finished product!
