OUR NUMBERS THIS WEEK

The virus bugs have unfortunately made their way to our classroom this week. Our numbers have been low - hovering around 9. If your child shows any signs of illness, please do not send them to school. I am looking forward to Friday so I can Lysol the room down before I leave for the weekend. Maybe then we can all get back to our normal routine!
Some of us started working on our February calendars by making a heart collage.

GET WELL EVERYONE AND WE WILL SEE YOU SOON

PAJAMA DAY

Today we had our pajama day complete with popcorn and a movie! We moved the tables in our room and set up a great veiwing area. It was nice and toasty and the children did a great job making room for one another and sharing their space. What a perfect way to spend a chilly winter morning.

WHEN YOU GIVE A MOOSE A MUFFIN

Last Friday, while I was hard at work in Atlanta, Mrs. Schwalbe finished up our lessons on Canada and Alaska. After reading the story, "When You Give a Moose a Muffin," the class made these great moose antlers and snacked on some muffins of their own. It sure looks like I missed a good time!

WELCOME 2013!!!!

We welcomed in the new year and welcomed back one another yesterday at WIPP.
Our class quickly got right back into the swing of things as if the two weeks off never happened.
They certainly didn't forget how to "rearrange" the classroom in a matter of minutes, as you can see by these photos. Thankfully, they also remembered how to return it to normal as quickly as they had trashed it. Everyone was happy to be back, and the talk of the day was all about Santa and what he had brought! It sounds like everyone had a wonderful Christmas Break.

The children showed us how they haven't forgotten kindness and cooperation.
I hope you can see how they are developing this "make-believe" birthday party game by using communication and patience. When the children play these types of games, it is never random. They have a specific plan of how they want the game to go, though usually each child's plan is different. Then we have conflict. Conflict is a normal part of a preschool classroom, but so is cooperation. That is where communication and patience comes in. This is probably the most important life skill I will teach your child. The ability to get along with others through compromise and cooperation is a skill they will use, well, forever. Happy 2013!
