OH CANADA

Last week we learned all about Canada because it's January and it's cold there.  We learned about their flag that has a maple leaf on it and maple leaves come from maple trees. We were all excited to learn that we LOVE maple syrup on pancakes.  We had a lot of fun making our own flags with the maple leaf out of our very own hand-print.  We all get the giggles when our hands get painted.  The paintbrush really tickles!

The first animal we learned about was the Beaver.  We learned all about what the Beaver does and how he does it.  We made our own beavers by first painting the head brown.

We also welcomed a new friend to school as well.  We have all done really well with showing him what all there is to play with on the playground and in the classroom, as well as how our rules work.  Children really are so accepting of others!

Now that everything was all dry, we had to put the face on our Beaver.  All of our Beaver's are unique.  We all put the parts of their faces on exactly where we thought they should go.

The next animal we learned about was a Moose.  They have really big antlers so we decided to have our own Moose antlers and decorate them with a bunch of stickers.  They had no idea that they were really using and strengthening their fine motor skills while doing this!  Teachers are so sneaky...

And of course, we finished the week of with our favorite day of the year, PAJAMA DAY!!!  We had delicious pancakes with MAPLE syrup at snack time.  Then, Mrs. Knudsen and Mrs. Southard picked Inside Out for our movie.  Well, really Mrs. Southard picked it because it is one of her favorites!!  We really enjoyed our popcorn and doritos while we watched it.  We were not even phased by the monsoon going on outside!
